Tusker FC soared to the top of the FKF Premier League table after a stunning long-range strike by Dennis ‘Decha’ Wanjala secured a 1-0 win over Nairobi City Stars at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday evening.

The Brewers entered the fixture hungry to capitalize on slip-ups by their closest rivals—Kenya Police and Gor Mahia—and they did just that with a professional display.

Kenya Police had fallen 1-0 to Ulinzi Stars on Friday at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, while Gor Mahia were held to a dramatic 1-1 draw on Saturday evening, conceding a stoppage-time equaliser from Douglas Kibet in their clash with Sofapaka.

Wanjala wasted no time making his mark, launching a thunderbolt from outside the box just four minutes into the game after spotting Nairobi City Stars goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe off his line.

City Stars nearly pulled level before the break, but Vincent Ochieng’s header just before halftime flew narrowly over the bar.

With the win, Tusker now sit atop the standings with 51 points—two clear of Kenya Police, who remain second on 49. Gor Mahia are third with 48 points but have a game in hand over both title rivals.
