BOC Kenya, a prominent gas firm in East Africa, has revealed the appointment of Lawrence Githinji as its new Managing Director. The Board of Directors disclosed this information in a statement released on Friday, February 28, stating that Githinji will formally assume his position starting March 3, 2025.
The Board expressed its confidence in Githinji’s extensive experience gained from his work with various international companies across different regions, which they believe will provide valuable insights and strategic guidance to BOC Kenya.
Githinji succeeds Joseph Ramashala, who has been acting as the Managing Director. This appointment follows a series of leadership transitions within the company. In September 2024, BOC Kenya also announced that its long-serving Finance Director, Arthur Kamau, who had dedicated 14 years to the company, would be resigning.
Githinji boasts a robust leadership background and has gathered significant experience across numerous sectors, such as industrial, energy, medical, water, extractives, and infrastructure. Before his new role, he served as the Managing Director of KONE Corporation, where he oversaw operations in Kenya and Uganda. His varied expertise positions him well to steer BOC Kenya towards its next phase of growth and advancement.
As BOC Kenya looks forward, the selection of Lawrence Githinji marks the beginning of a new chapter for the company. Stakeholders are optimistic that his leadership will promote innovation, enhance the company’s market presence, and bolster its competitive position within the gas and energy sectors in East Africa.
