The Association of Gaming Operators Kenya (AGOK) has acknowledged the Betting Control and Licensing Board’s (BCLB) recent directive suspending all gambling advertisements across media platforms for 30 days.
As a licensed industry body committed to transparency, responsibility, and professionalism in Kenya’s gaming sector, AGOK expressed support for measures aimed at protecting vulnerable groups, particularly the youth, from excessive or irresponsible advertising.
However, AGOK urged regulators to differentiate between licensed and unlicensed operators, noting that blanket advertising bans unfairly penalize compliant, tax-paying businesses while illegal and offshore platforms continue to operate unchecked.
The association proposed a structured dialogue with the BCLB, enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to develop balanced advertising guidelines that promote responsible gaming without stifling legitimate business operations.
Board Association of Gaming Operators Kenya also welcomed the establishment of clear, transparent advertising standards developed in collaboration with industry players, media, and regulators.
Additionally, AGOK announced plans to expand its nationwide responsible gaming campaign in partnership with the BCLB, psychologists, and media outlets. The association further called for stronger enforcement against illegal gambling platforms and dens targeting Kenyan consumers.
Reaffirming its commitment to responsible gaming, fair taxation, and constructive engagement with the government, AGOK urged all stakeholders to collaborate toward a safer, more transparent, and ethical gaming environment in Kenya.
