Kenyan musician Bahati has found himself in the middle of an online storm after attempting to convince fans that he shaved his signature dreadlocks—only for the internet to call his bluff.

It all started with a cheeky bet Bahati made on social media: if Arsenal lost their match to PSG, he’d chop off his dreadlocks. True to the banter, after the game, he posted photos suggesting he had indeed gone bald. But instead of applause, Bahati received a wave of suspicion.

Keen-eyed fans quickly zoomed in—literally and figuratively. Inconsistencies in the lighting, hairline blur, and overall facial resemblance led many to believe the image was either heavily edited or generated with AI tools. To make matters even more comical, some followers pointed out that his ‘new look’ bore an uncanny resemblance to Nigerian Afrobeats artist Mr. P of P-Square fame.

One fan even joked, “That’s not Bahati, that’s Mr. P doing Kenyan promos!”

The singer added more fuel to the fire with a cryptic caption saying he felt “naked without the dreadlocks” and was already thinking of growing them back—hinting that the whole stunt may have been more for clout than scissors.

Whether it was a PR move or a genuine bet gone sideways, Bahati’s little dreadlock drama has proven one thing: social media never sleeps, and fans always notice.
