At the Africa Football Business Summit held on October 24, 2024, in Nairobi, Ambassador Mohamed Shidiye, Chair of the Football Foundation for Africa, delivered the keynote address.
Speaking to an audience of football stakeholders from over 30 countries, Shidiye emphasized the critical need to empower Africa’s youth through football.
He highlighted the importance of grassroots development and the role of sports as a tool for social innovation and economic empowerment.
With the summit’s theme, Unlocking Africa’s Youth Potential: Sports and Social Innovation at Play, Shidiye outlined a vision of football as more than just a game—it’s a platform for fostering leadership, economic opportunities, and social cohesion across the continent.
He called for strategic investment and collaboration to ensure African football contributes meaningfully to youth development, both on and off the field.
