Kenyan musician and businesswoman Akothee has issued a notice that she will be departing from Facebook and go fully to Instagram on October 1st. The self-acclaimed President of Single Mothers made the announcement on her platforms, calling on her fans to join her on Instagram if they would like to continue following her updates.
”Starting October 1st I will be switching to Instagram and ending Facebook. If you don’t follow me on Instagram you won’t get my posts and it’s about to get real. Let’s catch up kwa DM, follow and I will follow back. Here there is a lot of noise,” she wrote.
With a massive 3.6 million followers on Instagram, Akothee is no stranger to commanding attention on the internet. As vocal as she is recognized and as raw in her presentation, the artist gave the impression that Facebook was too noisy for her liking and took to Instagram as her new preferred platform to interact with fans.
Her move has been greeted with a variety of responses, with her Facebook supporters crying foul while her Instagram followers embraced the news, anticipating more personal engagement. Akothee’s promise to follow back when approached through DM has also generated excitement, as most perceive it as a chance for personal engagement with the Kenyan artiste.
Akothee, who is also the CEO of Akothee Safaris and Akothee Foundation, has constantly maintained her fans interested with unedited and raw content that trends most of the time on many platforms.
