LG Electronics demonstrated its latest smart home technologies during the Smart Mommy Parenting Summit held at the Sarit Centre in Nairobi, as part of a broader push toward automation in everyday family life.
The event, themed “Real Tools, Real Talk, Real Growth,” brought together parents, family experts, and technology companies to explore ways to make modern parenting more manageable.
LG, in partnership with local distributor Hotpoint Appliances Ltd, presented a range of AI-powered appliances designed to ease domestic workloads.
Among the featured innovations were smart washing machines, refrigerators, dishwashers, and entertainment systems — all connected via the LG ThinQ platform, which allows users to monitor and control devices remotely.
“We are proud to partner with Hotpoint and Smart Mommy Kenya to support families with premium solutions that make life easier. From the kitchen to the living room, our smart appliances are designed to save time and enhance the family experience. Whether it’s our energy-efficient washing machines or our cutting-edge TVs, LG is committed to delivering purposeful technology that makes parenting smoother and more fulfilling,” said Jane Kariuki, Head of Marketing at LG Electronics East Africa.
The showcase allowed attendees to test how automation could help streamline household tasks such as laundry, food storage, and climate control.
The summit came against the backdrop of research predicting that up to 40% of household chores could be automated in the next decade, as artificial intelligence becomes more embedded in consumer appliances.
Industry representatives at the summit highlighted the growing relevance of technology in home management, particularly for families juggling work and childcare responsibilities.
“At Hotpoint, we understand the effort it takes to run a home and raise children. As LG’s distributor, we are dedicated to ensuring families across Kenya have access to reliable, innovative appliances that lighten the load and bring everyday convenience,” said Komal Dawani, Head of Marketing at Hotpoint Appliances.
The event also included discussions and demonstrations focused on how smart home solutions can contribute to greater efficiency, energy savings, and convenience in domestic life.
