Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and three other individuals have been handed additional fines following their conviction for money laundering in the KSh588 million corruption case.

The Milimani Anti-Corruption Court imposed a KSh21 million fine on Waititu, with 13 years’ imprisonment in default. His wife, Susan Wangari Ndung’u, was fined KSh2 million or two years in prison, while businessman Charles Chege Mbuthia received a KSh28 million fine or 13 years’ imprisonment.

Beth Wangechi Mburu was fined KSh6 million or six years in prison. Two companies, Testimony Enterprises Limited and Saika Two Estate, were ordered to pay KSh36 million and KSh24 million, respectively.

The sentences followed a High Court decision delivered on October 14, 2026, reinstating money laundering charges against the accused persons.

The case arose from investigations launched by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) in 2019 over an allegedly irregular KSh588 million road construction contract awarded to Testimony Enterprises Limited by Kiambu County during the 2017/2018 financial year.

Waititu and his co-accused were previously convicted in February 2025 of various offences, including conflict of interest, abuse of office and fraudulent procurement practices.

Their cumulative fines now stand at KSh73.7 million for Waititu, KSh2.5 million for his wife, KSh325 million for Mbuthia and KSh7.4 million for Mburu.
