Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has joined Deputy President Kithure Kindiki in launching the construction of the 14-kilometre Kimbo-Matangi-Gwa Kairu Road in Juja Constituency, Kiambu County.
The project, valued at Sh1.2 billion, is part of the government’s wider infrastructure programme targeting road connectivity and economic development across Kiambu County.
In a statement following the launch on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Kabogo said returning to Juja was special, recalling his time as the constituency’s Member of Parliament and later as Kiambu Governor.

Kabogo said his experience serving the area had given him an understanding of residents’ aspirations and the importance of infrastructure in improving livelihoods and opening up economic opportunities.
During the event, Kindiki highlighted government allocations of Sh152 billion for roads, Sh53 billion for housing and markets, and Sh432 million for rural electrification in Kiambu County.
Across the county, 1,656 kilometres of roads have been prioritised for tarmacking, with 368 kilometres already completed, according to the Deputy President.
In Juja, other road projects include the Ndarugo-Nyacaba-Kimuchu Road and the Juja-Juja Farm-Kwa Murage-Munyu-Komo Road.
The government is also undertaking other infrastructure projects in the constituency, including the construction of the Sh55 million Weitethie Fresh Produce Market and a student accommodation facility with a capacity of 2,500 at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), valued at Sh775 million.

Juja has also been allocated Sh103 million to connect an additional 530 homes and public amenities to electricity.
Kabogo further cited major road projects, including the ongoing dualling of the Rironi-Mau Summit Road and the planned dualling of the Muthaiga-Kiambu Town-Ndumberi Road.
He also pointed to a proposed Nairobi-Thika Expressway, which the government plans to pursue through a public-private partnership.
Kabogo said the government, under President William Ruto, remained focused on development projects intended to create jobs, support businesses and improve the livelihoods of residents.
He was accompanied by Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha, Juja MP George Koimburi, Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a and Gatundu North MP Elijah Kururia, alongside other leaders and residents.
