The broad-based coalition of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has made significant progress in developing a joint manifesto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The Broad-Based Committee on Manifesto Development, established by the parties’ Joint Parliamentary Group, is preparing a framework outlining the coalition’s commitments and priorities for the country.
The proposed manifesto will build on the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), with the coalition seeking to consolidate achievements made so far while addressing outstanding challenges affecting Kenyans.
According to the committee, the document will be anchored on the philosophy of Usawa Ni Sawa, which seeks to accelerate national transformation and promote greater prosperity for citizens.
The coalition aims to use the manifesto to outline its development priorities and demonstrate its commitment to sustaining economic and social progress as the country approaches the next general election.
Dr Emmanuel Nzai, Co-Chair of the Broad-Based Manifesto Committee, briefed UDA Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar Hassan on the progress made in developing the document.
UDA Executive Director Nicodemus Bore also attended the meeting, which focused on the committee’s progress in shaping the coalition’s shared policy agenda.
The manifesto is expected to provide a common framework for the coalition’s commitments, building on existing government programmes while identifying areas requiring further intervention.
Its development comes as political parties and coalitions prepare their agendas ahead of the 2027 polls.
