Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said the Bahati Affordable Housing Project in Nakuru County is providing jobs to 700 workers as the government expands its housing programme.

Kindiki made the remarks on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, after inspecting ongoing works at the project in Bahati Constituency, where he outlined the cost and planned number of housing units under its two phases.

According to the Deputy President, Phase One of the Bahati project comprises 220 housing units at a cost of Sh504 million, while Phase Two will deliver an additional 1,067 units at an estimated cost of Sh3.1 billion.

The two phases are expected to provide a combined 1,287 housing units, with the project forming part of the government’s broader affordable housing programme.

Kindiki also said about 1.1 million people were employed nationally through various projects financed under the Housing Fund, presenting the programme as a source of employment alongside its goal of increasing access to affordable homes.

The housing programme has become one of the government’s key development initiatives, combining residential construction with opportunities for workers and businesses involved in building activities.

The Bahati project is among the developments being implemented as the government pursues its affordable housing agenda across the country.
