Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has highlighted ongoing government infrastructure projects in Kiambu County, including roads, fresh produce markets, affordable housing and irrigation.

Speaking to residents of Nyambari in Lari Constituency on Monday, Kindiki said the government had prioritised tarmacking 1,656 kilometres of roads across the county at a cost of Sh152 billion.

He said 368 kilometres had already been completed at a cost of Sh20 billion, apart from the Sh200 billion Rironi-Mau Summit dual carriageway project.

Kindiki also inspected the Nyambari Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) market, one of 29 fresh produce markets being constructed in Kiambu County.

He said the government was investing about Sh800 billion nationally in markets, affordable housing and student hostel accommodation projects, with projects worth Sh52 billion located in Kiambu.

The Lari Affordable Housing Project is 30 per cent complete and will deliver 752 homes at a cost of Sh2.2 billion.

Kindiki said 1.5 million of Kiambu’s targeted 2.4 million residents had enrolled in the Social Health Authority medical insurance scheme.

He added that last-mile electricity projects worth Sh432 million were ongoing, targeting 2,500 homes, while the Sh500 million Escarpment Irrigation Project was nearing completion.

He was accompanied by several MPs and other leaders.
