The Social Health Authority (SHA) has changed the dates for verification of pending claims owed to selected Level 4 healthcare facilities by the defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
The affected facilities are those with outstanding NHIF claims amounting to Ksh10 million and above.
In a notice to healthcare providers, SHA asked the affected facilities to check the new verification schedule and prepare the documents needed to support their claims.
“Affected facilities are requested to check the revised schedule, note their new dates, and have the required claim supporting documents ready for verification,” SHA said.
The changes follow an earlier notice issued by the authority on September 18, 2026, on the verification of pending NHIF claims of Ksh10 million and above.
SHA said the revised list of facilities and their new verification dates had been published on its website.
Healthcare providers affected by the exercise have been asked to ensure all claim documents are available when verification teams visit their facilities.
The verification comes as SHA continues to deal with outstanding claims inherited from the former NHIF following the transition to the new health insurance system.
SHA Contracts Expire
The verification exercise also comes days before the expiry of the current contracts between SHA and healthcare providers.
SHA CEO Mercy Mwangangi said the existing contracts will expire on September 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
She urged healthcare providers and facilities that want to continue offering services to SHA beneficiaries to apply for new contracts and complete the contracting process before October 1.
SHA warned that facilities that do not have an executed contract for the 2026-2029 contracting cycle will not be allowed to provide services to its beneficiaries after the deadline.
Facilities affected by the revised NHIF claims verification schedule have therefore been asked to take note of their new dates and ensure all supporting documents are ready for inspection.
