The National Criminal Investigations Academy (NCIA) has received specialised counter-terrorism investigations equipment to strengthen its capacity to deliver practical and sustainable training to investigators.
The equipment was handed over on September 22, 2026, through the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), with funding from the European Union and implementation by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).
The support was provided under the EU-UN Global Terrorism Threats Facility and the Global Counter-Terrorism Investigations Programme (CTI), following a 2025 training gaps analysis that identified the need to enhance NCIA’s capacity to independently design and deliver specialised counter-terrorism investigations training.
During the handover ceremony, NCIA instructors and subject-matter experts demonstrated the equipment during a pilot delivery of the Counter-Terrorism Investigations Course (CTIC).
The equipment is expected to support scenario-based exercises and make training more reflective of real-world investigations.
NCIA Commandant Ibrahim Jillo said the equipment would enable the Academy to deliver specialised training independently while keeping practical exercises aligned with investigators’ operational needs.
Representatives from the EU, UNOCT and NCTC welcomed the support, highlighting the importance of sustainable national capacity and partnerships in strengthening counter-terrorism investigations.
The NCIA expressed appreciation to the EU, UNOCT and NCTC for the equipment, saying it will enhance practical and effective training for investigators.
