Police officers from the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) have recovered 151 stolen sheep in Ndeiya, Kiambu County, following a night operation launched after the livestock was reported missing.
The recovery was authorised on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, following police led efforts to recover the animals from the Gicheru area.
During this period, police worked hand in hand with local elders and villagers.
The sheep belonging to a resident of Karunga Village in Ndeiya Sub County were stolen on the evening of Monday while being driven home from a grazing field.
According to the National Police Service, police began tracking the livestock following a complaint. 151 heads of sheep were recovered by the police and handed back to their owner.
Police said investigations and efforts to apprehend the suspects responsible for the theft are ongoing. Officers are also attempting to locate other animals who remain missing.
Increased patrols have taken place in the area as police continue to boost patrols to prevent thefts of livestock and increase security.
