Every FKF Premier League match will have at least two ambulances on standby under new arrangements agreed ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and league clubs reached the agreement on Wednesday, September 16, paving the way for the delayed season to begin on Saturday, September 19.
The ambulance requirement is part of measures agreed by the federation and clubs as they resolved outstanding issues ahead of the new campaign.
“The clubs also signed a consent on the implementation of the foreign players’ quota, the provision of ambulances during league matches, as well as other matters that had already been complied with during the previous season,” FKF said in a statement.
Under the agreement, every league fixture will have two ambulances available as part of the match-day medical arrangements.
Clubs also agreed on the number of foreign players they can register and use during the season.
Each club will be allowed to register up to seven foreign players, although only five will be eligible to feature in any given match.
The agreement clears the way for the return of top-flight football after the start of the season was pushed back amid disputes and consultations involving FKF and clubs.
The league had initially been scheduled to start in August but failed to kick off as planned following legal and administrative disputes surrounding the competition.
A Murang’a High Court ruling issued on August 28 allowed FKF to proceed with the league under the 2019 rules while a legal challenge involving the 2025 regulations remains active.
FKF welcomed the clubs’ participation in Wednesday’s meeting, saying the agreement would allow preparations for the new season to continue.
“FKF appreciates the clubs’ participation in the meeting and the agreement reached on the key matters, which allows preparations for the new season to proceed as scheduled,” the federation said.
The federation has now set its sights on the opening round of matches on Saturday, September 19, when clubs will finally return to competitive action.
