Newly recruited Kenya Air Force (KAF) service members have been put on notice over discipline, social media use and drugs as they begin their military careers.
The recruits started the Service Members Induction Course No. 1/26 on September 7, 2026, at Moi Air Base.
The course was opened by Base Commander Moi Air Base Brigadier Herbert Wafula on behalf of KAF Commander Major General Bernard Waliaula.
Wafula urged the recruits to uphold discipline, professionalism and integrity, warning that their conduct would shape their careers in the military.
“Your conduct will define the kind of Service members you become. Remain disciplined, uphold the KDF core values and always remember that you are now part of a larger team entrusted with the security of the nation,” he said.
The induction programme includes training on the KDF social media policy, drugs and substance abuse, financial management and the roles of different KAF bases and units.
The recruits will also be introduced to the wider structure and mandate of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
Wafula stressed the importance of loyalty, commitment and respect for the chain of command in building a professional and mission ready force.
The Commandant KAF Training Wing, Colonel Charles Munyao, and Chief of Personnel KAF, Colonel Duncan Owino, urged the recruits to remain focused, develop themselves and uphold the reputation of the KDF.
The induction marks the transition of the recruits from basic military training to service within the Kenya Air Force.
