The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has charged nine individuals, including seven Nakuru County Government employees, over alleged procurement irregularities involving approximately KSh120 million.
The accused face 19 counts relating to conflict of interest, money laundering, acquisition of proceeds of crime, procurement offences and alleged corrupt and fraudulent practices in procurement proceedings.
Those charged include county officials serving in various departments, among them an Economist II, Director for Medical Services, Director of Health, City Manager and several Chief Officers responsible for health, environment, youth, sports, gender and social services.
The individuals have been charged alongside three companies, Denken Building and Construction Limited, Murinchamba Investment Limited and Windcom Solutions Limited. The prosecution alleges that the offences arose from irregular tenders awarded by the Nakuru County Government to the three firms.
All nine accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges and were released on bond or bail.
The first three accused were each granted a KSh1 million bond with a similar surety or KSh200,000 cash bail. They were also ordered to surrender their passports and report to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission every two weeks.
The remaining six were granted KSh500,000 bonds or KSh200,000 cash bail.
The matter will come up for pre-trial directions on 19th September 2026.
