United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Muchina Nyaga has expressed confidence that he will win the Ol Kalou parliamentary by election after casting his vote on Thursday.

Nyaga voted at Huruma Primary School before touring several polling stations, where he said the turnout was encouraging and reflected the electorate’s determination to choose their next Member of Parliament.

“I am confident of victory because the people have supported me throughout the campaign. I believe they will make the right decision today,” he told journalists.

Despite his confidence, Nyaga said he would respect the outcome of the election if the results did not go in his favour.

“I am a law abiding citizen. If I lose, I will accept the will of the people because that is what democracy is all about,” he said.

The UDA candidate also commended security officers for maintaining peace during the voting exercise, saying the enhanced security had enabled residents to cast their ballots without intimidation.

Nyaga, however, raised concern over an incident in which one of his campaign vehicles was allegedly attacked and torched on the eve of the election. He said the matter would be reported to the police for investigations.

The by election is being held to fill the parliamentary seat left vacant following the death of MP David Kiaraho.

The contest has drawn intense political interest, with both UDA and the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) viewing it as a major test of their influence in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
