Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection paid a courtesy call on Qatar’s Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Mohammed bin Mutair Al-Shamlani Al-Enazi, to convey the country’s condolences following the death of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Amir of the State of Qatar.

During the visit, the Cabinet Secretary signed the condolence book and extended heartfelt sympathies to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Royal Family, the Government and the people of Qatar.

The CS described the late Father Amir as a visionary leader whose stewardship transformed Qatar into a global example of economic progress, prosperity and international diplomacy.

“As a long-standing friend of the people of Qatar, I joined millions around the world in mourning the loss of a distinguished statesman,” the Cabinet Secretary said.

The visit also reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between Kenya and Qatar, particularly in labour mobility, investment, trade and people-to-people exchanges. The CS noted that Qatar has remained a key destination for Kenyan workers, creating employment opportunities and strengthening relations between the two countries.

The Cabinet Secretary prayed for eternal peace for the late Father Amir and asked for comfort and strength for the people of Qatar as they mourn the loss of one of the country’s most influential leaders.

The condolence visit underscores Kenya’s commitment to maintaining its close diplomatic and economic partnership with Qatar during a period of national mourning.
