Kenya and the Republic of Cuba have reaffirmed their longstanding diplomatic ties following a meeting between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leadership and the Cuban Ambassador to Kenya aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and people-to-people engagement.
The discussions took place at the UDA Party Headquarters, Hustler Plaza, where the party’s Secretary General, Senator Hassan Omar Hassan, hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Kenya, Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, during a courtesy call.
According to UDA, the meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between the two ruling parties through institutional exchanges, particularly in the area of party building and governance.
The engagement also underscored the strong bilateral relations that Kenya and Cuba have maintained for decades, with both countries expressing a commitment to deepening cooperation across various sectors.
Ambassador Inés praised Kenya for its continued solidarity with Cuba and reaffirmed the two countries’ shared commitment to multilateralism, especially on issues relating to the United Nations and broader international cooperation.
The two sides further acknowledged their common vision of promoting inclusive development through state-supported programmes in healthcare, affordable housing, education and social protection, aimed at advancing social justice and improving the welfare of citizens.
The meeting was also attended by UDA Director for Women Affairs Margaret Ndanyi, Director of Membership Grace Gicovi, Director of Events Planning and Logistics Sam Mwangi, and Director of Communication Nathaniel Mong’are.
The engagement reflects continued efforts by both Kenya and Cuba to strengthen diplomatic relations while expanding cooperation through political, institutional and developmental partnerships.
