The entertainment industry is experiencing a renaissance as Kenyan duo Watendawili has received a gold record plaque after surpassing 20 million streams each on their debut EP Double Treble and their breakout single Cham Thum (Atoti).
“Guys, we just picked up our Gold plaque. Over 20 million streams on our debut EP Double Treble. Over 20 million streams on our smash hit Cham Thum (Atoti). We want to say thank you to our fans. We love you all. Many more to come,” Watendawili wrote.
The duo, known for Afro-soul, R&B and urban storytelling, has thanked the public for their unwavering support. Their artistry is rooted in soothing vocals, relatable lyrics and sounds those vibe soulful lyrics.
They are expected to perform at the Peaches and Cream event in September, giving fans an opportunity to celebrate the milestone with them live.
The Watendawili consists of Israel Onyach (Onyach Pala) and Eugene Ywaya Tajiri, who were previously known Kaskazini before rebranding to their current name, Watendawili.
