Police in Kisii Central have arrested a suspect believed to be part of a network involved in receiving and trading stolen mobile phones, following a targeted operation in Kisii Town.


The arrest was made after officers from Kisii Central Police Station, in collaboration with representatives from , conducted a raid at Uhuru Plaza based on actionable intelligence.


During the operation, police recovered nine M-KOPA mobile phones, 24 assorted handsets of different makes and models, nine M-KOPA HMD mobile phone batteries, and 33 additional batteries believed to have been removed from other stolen devices.


The suspect is currently being held at Kisii Central Police Station as investigations continue before he is arraigned in court.


Authorities said efforts are underway to identify and reunite the recovered devices with their rightful owners while also pursuing other individuals linked to the suspected stolen electronics trade.


The National Police Service praised cooperation between law enforcement agencies, private sector partners, and members of the public, saying the collaboration remains key in tackling mobile phone theft and related crimes across the country.
