Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has appealed to the Nyandarua professionals who are working and living in Nairobi to become tourism ambassadors of the county. She asked them to take a lead in promoting the county’s heritage, nature, and investment opportunities.

During an interaction with the Nyandarua professionals based in Nairobi, Miano indicated that the county’s sons and daughters working in the capital city have great potential to help tell the story of Nyandarua’s tourism, attract investors, and brand the county as a top tourism destination.

Nyandarua is one of the most promising areas for tourism in Kenya but at the same time it is one of the least developed. Besides its rich cultural heritage, Nyandarua also has amazing landscapes, great wildlife, and eco-tourism resources that can be turned into engines of economic growth and job creation.

“If we look at tourism from entirely new perspectives, we will need to roll up our sleeves together, ” said Miano. “On one hand, showcasing the cultural and natural heritage of Nyandarua should be a communal effort. Then again, it is equally important to ensure that these resources remain viable for the generations to come.”

Some of the best known noteworthy sights in Nyandarua County include the Aberdare Ranges, stunning waterfalls, thick forests, varied wildlife, and habitats. These continue to be the county’s major selling points as an eco-tourism and nature resort destination.

The discussion centered on how the professionals based in Nairobi can contribute to marketing Nyandarua as a tourism destination, raising funds for tourism-related projects, and supporting efforts to unlock the county’s tourism potential. Sustainable tourism models that can generate economic benefits for local communities while conserving the environment were also discussed.

Accordingto CS, the government will continue to play a role in unlocking Nyandarua’s tourism potential by developing sustainable tourism corridors, expanding eco-tourism initiatives, and investing in critical infrastructure.

“Collectively, we are creating a dynamic and inclusive tourism industry, ” she said. She went further to say that partnerships with professionalsMiano Woos Nairobi-Based Nyandarua Professionals to Champion County’s Tourism Potential.
