Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed has broken his silence after FIFA rejected attempts to suspend him, insisting he will not bow to pressure or break the law despite the ongoing wrangles at FKF.
Speaking during a media briefing shortly after FIFA’s decision, Hussein maintained that every move he has made at the federation has followed the FKF constitution and laid down procedures.
“I am a strict follower of rules and law and I will not break or bend any,” Hussein said.
His remarks came after FIFA dismissed the suspension pushed by a section of FKF National Executive Committee members led by Deputy President Macdonald Mariga.
In a letter dated May 25, FIFA termed the process used to suspend Hussein, Secretary General Dennis Gicheru and NEC member Abdullahi Yusuf Ibrahim as unconstitutional, saying it did not meet the requirements under Article 41 of the FKF Constitution.
“FIFA therefore categorically rejects the procedure that has been followed in this matter,” the governing body stated.
The latest development is a major boost for Hussein, who has been under pressure over alleged financial impropriety linked to the Sh42 million CHAN insurance tender.
However, the FKF boss has consistently denied any wrongdoing, insisting no federation money was lost in the process.
“FKF did not transfer or pay any money to any insurance company for CHAN competitions,” Hussein had earlier stated while dismissing the allegations.
During the briefing, Hussein appeared firm and unshaken, saying FKF leadership must remain anchored on legality and accountability instead of internal power struggles.
The Sports Disputes Tribunal had also temporarily halted the suspension as investigations continue into the dispute that has now exposed deep divisions within the federation ahead of CHAN 2025 and AFCON 2027 preparations.
