President William Ruto has reiterated the Governments dedication to provide sufficient and sustainable power within the country as something important to fast track economic growth, revolutionize the Industrialization of the nation and enhance general livelihood.

During a development tour in Kilifi County, the President commissioned the 400/220 kV Mariakani Sub-Station in Kaloleni Constituency, highlighting it as a strategically importance KSh3 billion development that would improve power stability and reliability in the Coast region.

The new sub-station will improve Much the power supply in Kilifi and the adjacent region with the inclusion of the Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone that is set to spearhead the industrialization activities by Kenya.

The Head of State also flagged off the Last Mile Connectivity project in Mariakani, which is set to connect more than 24,000 homes to electricity this year at a cost of KSh2.5 billion.

The initiative forms part of the government’s broader plan to expand access to electricity, particularly in underserved communities, while supporting small businesses, education, healthcaon ongoing and planned government development projects in the region

During the visit, President Ruto also engaged residents of Mariakani and briefed themon ongoing and planned government development projects in the region.

He noted that the government is implementing transformative projects across the country aimed at uplifting communities, expanding economic opportunities, and securing a better future for Kenyans.

The commissioning of the Mariakani Sub-Station comes as Kenya continues to invest heavily in energy infrastructure to support industrial parks, special economic zones, and growing urban centres while advancing universal electricity access.
