Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that the Ol Kalou constituency by-election in Nyandarua County will take place on July 16, 2026. In a Gazette Notice, the commission directed political parties to submit candidates’ names and signatures by May 4, while those using indirect nominations have until May 15 to comply.

When did Ol Kalou MP die?

The seat fell vacant following the death of David Njuguna Kiaraho on March 29 while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital. IEBC stated that any public officer seeking to contest must resign within seven days of the vacancy declaration. Campaigns are scheduled to run from May 25 to July 13, with voter registration and revision in the constituency suspended until August 13.

The electoral body also confirmed additional by-elections on the same date, including in Emurua Dikirr constituency after the death of Johanna Ng’eno in a helicopter crash. Mini polls will also be conducted in Porro Ward in Samburu County and Endo Ward in Elgeyo-Marakwet County to fill vacant MCA positions.
