President William Ruto has officially opened the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2026 in Nairobi, bringing together health experts and leaders from across the world.
The meeting, being held at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, has attracted thousands of delegates who are in the country to discuss how Africa can improve its health systems.
Over 2,300 delegates representing over 50 countries are expected to attend the three-day summit. The delegates include health and finance ministers, doctors, researchers, and others from the health sector.
The summit will take place under the patronage of Aga Khan University, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Africa CDC, and the WHO.
While speaking during the opening ceremony, Duale said that the conference offers an opportunity to come up with better ways of addressing health matters. According to Duale, there should be more partnerships and implementation of solutions that can be effective.
The theme of this year’s conference is focused on the way to establish stronger health structures among African nations, considering the fact that most of them have been facing challenges within their hospitals.
Nairobi, hosting the conference, is proving to be a very important platform of connecting the international community to discuss matters which are pertinent to the continent.
Present also were various Principal Secretaries like Mary Muthoni and Ouma Oluga among others.
As the discussions are taking place, attendees are likely to exchange ideas and make new partnerships.
