Kenya has strengthened its Blue Economy cooperation with Morocco following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at deepening collaboration in fisheries, aquaculture, research, and value chain development.

Principal Secretary for Blue Economy and Fisheries Betsy Njagi, together with colleagues, witnessed the signing of the Kenya–Morocco agreement on behalf of Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho, describing it as a key milestone in advancing sustainable use of marine resources.

The partnership is expected to enhance knowledge exchange, boost investment opportunities, and improve productivity within the Blue Economy sector, with a focus on long-term economic and environmental sustainability.

“The partnership will advance collaboration in fisheries, aquaculture, research, and value chain development, while creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and sustainable resource management,”she said.

Kenya’s delegation was led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and included Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Education CS Julius Ogamba, Gender CS Hanna Cheptumo, Medical Services PS Fredrick Ng’ona, and Higher Education PS Beatrice Muganda.

The Moroccan delegation was led by Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates H.E. Nasser Bourita, with both sides agreeing to prioritize implementation of the MoU to ensure tangible benefits in livelihoods, investment, and sector growth.
