Prime Cabinet Secretary with Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Sudan, Pekka Haavisto

Kenya has pushed the need for peace process in Sudan stressing all the main actors to end the cycle of fragmentation, negotiations and forums.

Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi held talks with Pekka Haavisto, Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Sudan and urged the need for talks that includes: elders, women, youth, community and religious leaders, and civil society, ensuring a truly representative pathway to peace.

They both emphasised the conflict cannot be resolved through military means warning that as long as the parties remain locked in a contest of force, lasting peace will remain out of reach.

Kenya called for all leaders to embrace dialogue and urging for negotiations to end conflicts and have peace, love and unity to the nation.

“Dialogue must prevail, and all sides must commit to negotiations to safeguard the lives of millions, particularly women and children who continue to bear the heaviest burden,” CS Mudavadi noted.

CS Mudavadi assured Kenya’s commitment to support sustain peace process and restore stability in Sudan and the region.
