The National Police Service (NPS) has intensified its crackdown on the manufacture, sale and consumption of illicit brews following a multi-agency operation in Bomet County that led to the confiscation of 240 litres of illicit alcohol and the arrest of three suspects.
The operation was conducted on August 30, 2026, by police officers and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) targeting suspected illicit brewing networks in different parts of the county.
In the first operation, officers from Konoin Police Station, together with NGAO officials from Mogogosiek, raided a suspected notorious brewing den and recovered 150 litres of illicit brew.
One suspect was arrested and placed in custody at Konoin Police Station, where the individual is awaiting arraignment.
In a separate operation, officers from Chepalungu Police Station and the NGAO team from Ariyiet Sub-Location recovered an additional 90 litres of illicit brew.
Two suspects were arrested during the operation and detained at Chepalungu Police Station pending arraignment. The recovered alcohol has been secured as exhibits to support the ongoing legal proceedings.
The NPS thanked members of the public for providing information that has helped police conduct operations against illicit brewing activities.
