The High Court in Nairobi has revoked Esther Musila’s authority as administrator of her late husband Erick Naibei’s estate, years after she was granted control following his death in 2016.
The case was filed by her eldest son, Gideon Mallan Naibei, who raised concerns over how the estate was managed, citing lack of transparency, alleged misrepresentation during the application process, and failure to disclose some assets, including shares.
In its ruling, the court dismissed claims that Gideon was unfit to be involved, affirming that he is mentally sound, employed, and entitled as a beneficiary. The judge pointed to inconsistencies in how the initial grant was obtained, along with concerns about undisclosed assets, leading to the cancellation of Musila’s sole authority. Any previous distributions made under her management are now subject to review following the decision.
The court also considered Musila’s remarriage to gospel singer Guardian Angel in 2022, noting it affected her standing as the sole administrator under succession principles. It ordered that the estate be shared equally among Naibei’s three children, Gideon, Gilda, and Glen, who have now been appointed joint administrators. Musila and Guardian Angel are yet to publicly respond.
