Nairobi Hospital

Board member Lekek Chebii has stepped down from the board of Nairobi Hospital, citing personal commitments that limit her ability to effectively discharge her duties.

In her resignation, Chebii said board responsibilities require consistent availability, active participation and strategic input, which she is currently unable to sustain.

Her exit comes at a time when the hospital has been under intense scrutiny over governance and leadership wrangles that have rocked the institution in recent months.

Nairobi Hospital has faced internal disputes involving its board and management, with some officials previously arrested as investigations into alleged governance and operational irregularities intensified.

The situation had also drawn in President William Ruto, with reports of State involvement in efforts to stabilise the hospital’s leadership and operations amid the ongoing standoff.

As a board member, Chebii was part of the team responsible for guiding the hospital’s strategic direction, overseeing management decisions and ensuring accountability in service delivery.

Her resignation creates a vacancy that the board is expected to fill as it seeks to maintain full capacity while navigating the current challenges.
