Kenya has welcomed home its third contingent of 208 police officers who were deployed to Haiti under the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission.
The officers arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on March 24, where they were received by National Security Adviser Monicah Juma and Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, alongside other senior security officials.
The returning third contingent formed part of a Kenya-led mission tasked with supporting the Haitian National Police in tackling gang violence, restoring public safety, and securing key infrastructure. During their deployment, the officers helped protect vital facilities including airports, seaports, and major transport corridors, ensuring the safe movement of civilians and delivery of humanitarian aid. They also contributed to institutional rebuilding efforts, including support for the Haiti National Police Academy and the re-establishment of the Armed Forces College.
Speaking during the reception, Juma praised the officers for their professionalism and dedication, noting their service had brought pride to the country. Inspector General Kanja also commended their discipline and assured them of continued welfare support, including counselling and mental health services as part of post-mission reintegration.
