Grief has gripped residents of Maraba in Kakamega after a tragic incident involving two students from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
Authorities say a third-year student was allegedly stabbed to death by a fellow student, who later took his own life by hanging inside the same house. The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 10.
Witnesses reported that the house showed signs of a violent confrontation, with bloodstains and scattered items suggesting a struggle before the deaths. The disturbing discovery was made after one of the victims’ fathers visited his son’s rental house and noticed blood outside, prompting him to alert neighbours.
Residents later forced their way into the locked house, which had been secured from the inside, where they found the two bodies. The shocking discovery drew a large crowd to the scene as people gathered in disbelief while police secured the area.
Police officers later moved the bodies to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital mortuary, where postmortem examinations are expected to establish more details surrounding the deaths.
