This shipping link was launched over the weekend, with the first vessel under this service calling at the port. The vessel was presented with a first call certificate in keeping with tradition.

The certificate was presented in a small ceremony held at the ship’s jetty. The handover of this certificate was officiated by Captain William Ruto, who also spoke at the event. The port’s commitment to delivering quality services to its shipping partners was restated by Captain Ruto. He also stated the port’s commitment to fostering trade ties with the wider world.

In his remarks, Captain Ruto said, “Mombasa Port is dedicated to delivering world-class services to our shipping partners and to boosting Kenya’s status as a major maritime hub.”

This new route is expected to improve trade in these regions as goods movement is expected to be streamlined. The move is also expected to improve imports of key goods as it will be easier.
