Moses Ledama Sunkuli has been appointed to serve as the Acting Chief Executive Officer and the Commission Secretary of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission following the exit of the previous office holder.

In a statement released to the press on Thursday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission noted that Sunkuli would be taking over the office of the CEO on an acting capacity for the next six months or until such time that the commission is able to recruit and appoint a permanent CEO.

Sunkuli is not new to the commission, having served as the commission’s head for the Electoral Operations department. This means that Sunkuli is not new to the commission and has been part of the commission’s daily operations during the electoral process.

This appointment is also expected to be for a short time as the commission looks to recruit a permanent CEO to run the commission.

“The Commission is committed to expediting the recruitment of a substantive Chief Executive Officer and to ensure a smooth transition while maintaining the highest standard of service delivery to the people of Kenya,” the commission stated.

This change is coming at a time when the commission is preparing for the coming electoral season and other operations geared towards improving service delivery.
