Acting United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secretary general Hassan Omar has revealed that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will be expelled from the ruling party should his impeachment motion sail through.
Gachagua is facing 10 charges, among them threatening President William Ruto, in the motion set to be tabled in the National Assembly on Tuesday, October 1.
Omar said Gachagua will not merit to continue being UDA’s deputy party leader if found to be unsuitable to continue holding the Office of the Deputy President.
"Should the impeachment motion sail through, the immediate concern will be to eject him from the party. You cannot be found to be grossly incompetent, undermining the constitution and the national unity and then continue being a ranking member of the party," said Omar.
Omar said the party supports the UDA MPs move to impeach Gachagua.
