Junior Golfer Mwangi Claims Members Day Title at Karen

Junior golfer Nathan Mwangi emerged as the overall winner at the Sunshine Development Tour Members Day held at Karen Country Club, topping the leaderboard with 43 points.

Mwangi outperformed a strong field of more than 250 golfers, edging out Kithinji Kiragu, who finished second on 42 points after a countback. Violet Luchendo claimed third place with 41 points, while Joe Sang finished fourth on 40 points.

In the gross category, Ali Mohamed posted the leading gross score of 75 to take top honours. Edwin Komen won the sponsor category with 42 points, with Renato D’Souza finishing second on 38 points.

Sheha Omanga claimed victory in the junior category after returning 35 points, while Margaret Thande topped the senior category with 39 points.

Several side challenges were also contested, with Muthoni Kioi winning the nearest-to-the-pin award in the ladies’ junior category and Ken Ombati taking the men’s closest-to-the-pin prize.

Atsango Lwande claimed the longest drive award in the ladies’ category, while Muchemi Ndungu secured the men’s longest drive honour.

Speaking after the event, Sunshine Development Tour East Africa Swing promoter Charles Gacheru expressed his appreciation to the partners who supported the week-long activities at Karen Country Club.

The Members Day was part of the Sunshine Development Tour East Africa Swing finale week at Karen Country Club and was sponsored by Absa and Johnnie Walker.
