Gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his wife Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, affectionately known to many as Joy.
In a statement seen by this publication, Joy passed away at 3 am on Monday, January 26, while undergoing treatment after fighting chronic kidney failure for years.
She underwent a transplant in mid-2025 but developed subsequent complications.
"Joy demonstrated immense courage and faith throughout a challenging health journey. After undergoing a kidney transplant mid-last year, she faced subsequent complications. Though an infection towards the end of the year was managed, recent weeks presented further medical challenges. She was briefly home two weeks ago before being re-admitted for care," read the statement from the family.She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, cherished by her devoted DJ husband and their three children: Toria, Riri, and Imani.
