The Parliamentary Service Commission has announced the dates for interviews for plumbers, electricians, and carpenters who are looking to work in Parliament, a major step for the hundreds of skilled artisans who applied for the positions last year.
In a notice on Saturday, the Commission said it has concluded the short listing process for the vacant posts of Artisan II, which were advertised on 28th May 2025 and invited those successful for this round to attend physical interviews in Nairobi.
The interviews will cover three roles under the Artisan II category Plumbing, Electrical and Carpentry. The PSC said this noting that the full list of the shortlisted candidates had already been published on its website.
“The full list of shortlisted candidates is available on the Parliamentary Service Commission website at parliament.go.ke/vacancies. Candidates who have been shortlisted are hereby invited to attend interviews for the respective positions at the County Hall Building, Parliament Road, Nairobi,” the notice stated.
Where and When the Interviews Will Be Conducted
Candidates shortlisted for the Artisan II (Plumbing) position, listed under Vacancy No. PSC/EXT/02/2025, will be interviewed on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 9am onwards at the County Hall Building along Parliament Road.
The appointment is under PSC Scale 4 and attracts a basic monthly salary ranging between Ksh23,000 and Ksh30,000, based on years of service and salary increment. Apart from the basic salary, successful candidates may be entitled to other allowances that apply under the PSC guidelines.
Interviews for Artisan II – Electrician and Artisan II – Carpentry, under Vacancy Nos. PSC/EXT/03/2025 and PSC/EXT/04/2025 respectively, shall be conducted on the subsequent day, Saturday, February 14, 2026, commencing at 9am at the same venue.
Both are similarly grouped under PSC Scale 4, with a gross salary falling between Ksh23,000 and Ksh30,000 per month. Successful candidates are also entitled to house allowance, commuter allowance, and other statutory entitlements as provided in the PSC terms of service.
What Candidates Should Prepare
It has directed that the shortlisted candidates attend the interviews with all the documents in original and photocopies.
The documents required for application are a National Identity Card or Passport, academic certificates, relevant trade test certificates, testimonials, and other supporting documents needed to confirm their qualifications and experience.
They have also been asked to report at the interview venue a half an hour in advance of the scheduled time to facilitate the registration process.
Meanwhile, the PSC warned that any form of canvassing or attempt at influencing the recruitment process will automatically disqualify a candidate. For many of these plumbers, electricians, and carpenters, the interviews represent a rare opportunity for stable employment within Parliament-a chance to convert years of practical skill into a steady livelihood and long-term public service career.
