A 64-year-old man has died following the collapse of a quarry in Giatumbi village, Kinyaga, Kirinyaga County, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred on Thursday while the deceased and another man were working at the quarry. The collapse trapped both men under falling debris, leading to fatal injuries for one of them.
The second worker sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
Police officers and local residents responded to the scene, retrieving the body of the deceased before it was taken to the mortuary. Investigations have been launched to establish the cause of the collapse.
Authorities have urged quarry owners and workers to adhere to safety regulations to prevent similar accidents in the future.
