President William Ruto, on Friday, outlined a number of development projects that were launched, commissioned and promised in Baringo County as the government steps up investments in infrastructure, housing, education, health and social amenities.
At the centre of the infrastructural drive is the Sirwa–Kimngorom Road, a KSh 360 million project that the President flagged off and which is expected to be completed within one year. He added that KSh 3.2 billion has been allocated this financial year for road construction across Baringo, targeting about 700 kilometres of roads at a projected total cost of KSh 39 billion.
At Mogotio, the President launched the completed modern market and broke the ground for the commencement of Mogotio Affordable Housing Project. Ruto said the national government has set aside KSh 15 billion to support the construction of 580 affordable housing units, hostels with a capacity of 4,000 beds and 10 modern markets within the area.
The President also toured the ongoing construction works at the Mogotio Sports Academy, terming sports development a key pillar in the nurturing of young talents and creation of opportunities for the youth.
In the education sector, Ruto officially opened the completed Mogotio Township Secondary School and donated KSh 5 million towards the construction of a laboratory at the institution. He further pledged KSh 20 million for the construction of 16 new classrooms and two laboratories at Emining High School.

In his speech, he pointed out that on Healthcare the President announced a KSh 200 million pledge for building of a new hospital in Mogotio and was set to begin constructions within the next four months.
He also donated KSh 3 million to help procure a bus for Chemogoch Football Club, terming sports a key avenue for youth empowerment.
Beyond the physical projects, President Ruto announced interventions to deal with perennial water shortage in Kimngorom, improve connectivity on parts of Baringo County, and increase electricity connectivity to more households by releasing more funds.
The President said the initiatives are part of the government’s broader plan to improve service delivery, spur economic growth, and uplift livelihoods across the county.
