Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui has criticized opposition calls for foreign intervention in Kenya’s internal political affairs, warning that such moves could have far-reaching consequences for the country.

Kinyanjui was reacting to remarks by a senior DCP figure who has reportedly sought the intervention of the United States to investigate Kenya’s leadership over allegations linked to funds associated with the Minnesota fraud case.

The development has sparked debate, particularly because the individual raising the concerns previously served as a running mate within the same political outfit.

“The DCP leader has been quoted requesting the intervention of the USA to investigate Kenya’s leadership over allegations of sponsorship through funds linked to the Minnesota fraud case. Never mind it’s on the very party he was the running mate,”Kinyajua said.

While distancing himself from investigative mandates, Kinyanjui expressed concern over what he described as a failure to separate political rivalry from issues of serious international and diplomatic significance.

“While the province of investigations does not belong to me, the sheer lack of wisdom in failing to distinguish between political differences and matters of grave international significance is alarming,” Kinyanjui said.

The CS questioned the motive behind involving foreign governments in domestic political disputes, arguing that such actions risk exposing the country to unnecessary scrutiny and diplomatic strain.

“How can a leader seek to throw his own country into the deep end merely to score personal revenge?” he posed, adding that the approach reflected “retrogressive and dangerous politics.”

Kinyanjui warned that reckless political conduct driven by personal ambition and vendettas could have potentially catastrophic consequences for the country, urging leaders to exercise restraint and patriotism in handling sensitive matters.
