Cameroon powered into the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations after edging South Africa 2–1 in a hard-fought encounter in Morocco on Sunday evening.
The Indomitable Lions struck first in the 34th minute when Junior Tchamadeu finished from close range after a scramble and a series of deflections inside the box.
Cameroon doubled their advantage just two minutes into the second half, with Christian Kofane heading neatly into the bottom-right corner.
South Africa responded through Evidence Makgopa, who converted from close range after a well-delivered cross from the left by Audrey Modiba.
Despite the late pressure, Cameroon stayed firm defensively to see out the win, sealing their place in the last eight and setting up a quarter-final clash with hosts Morocco.
