The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) today hosted Mr. Abdulaziz Obaidalla, Interpol’s Director of Global Outreach and Regional Support, at DCI Headquarters in a significant visit aimed at strengthening international police collaboration.
Mr. Obaidalla, who travelled from Interpol’s General Secretariat in Lyon, France, led high-level discussions focused on enhancing the I-24/7 INTERPOL Global Policing Communication System, a critical tool that facilitates real-time sharing of intelligence and access to international criminal databases among law enforcement agencies worldwide.
The meeting marked a pivotal step in fortifying Kenya’s engagement in global security operations and cross-border crime prevention.
Mr. Obaidalla was accompanied by Ms. Sofia Silva Da Marques, Interpol Policy Analyst. The DCI leadership team welcomed their counterparts alongside Mr. Apolo Africa, Head of Interpol’s Regional Bureau for Eastern Africa; Mr. Lawrence Some, Personal Assistant to the DCI Director; and Mr. Andrew Chege, representing the Head of the National Central Bureau (NCB) Nairobi.
In addition to strategic dialogue, Mr. Obaidalla visited the NCB offices, where he interacted with local officers and reaffirmed Interpol’s commitment to capacity building and deeper cooperation with national agencies.
The visit underscores Interpol’s ongoing efforts to empower regional partners and enhance operational readiness in combating transnational crimes such as terrorism, human trafficking, cybercrime, and smuggling.
