The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) probing the death of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has rulled out foul play in the accident that claimed his life.

Jirongo died on the morning of December 13 when his luxurious Mercedes-Benz rammed into a Busia-bound Climax Bus in Naivasha along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

Several leaders alleged malice in the death, prompting the DCI to take over the investigations into the circumstances of the crash.

After completing a probe, the DCI boss, Mohammed Amin, said that from the evidence gathered, there is nothing to show that Jirongo was murdered.

“In light of the evidence gathered so far, there is nothing to show that Jirongo was murdered. So far, investigations show the death was purely a traffic accident,” said Amin.

The DCI boss, in turn, recommended a public inquest into the former MP’s death.
