Porro Ward residents in Samburu West have been thrown into mourning following the demise of their representative, Patrick Lerte.
Lerte died on the morning of Sunday, December 28, while undergoing treatment at Samburu County Referral Hospital.
Confirming his demise, Samburu County Assembly Clerk Fred Lenapeer said Lerte had been unwell for a short time before his condition deteriorated, leading to his admission at the county hospital, where he later succumbed.
He was eulogised as a devoted public servant who faithfully served the people of Porro Ward.
Lerte was elected in 2022 on an Amani National Congress (ANC) party ticket. The Musalia Mudavadi-led outfit has since folded to join the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
