Kenyan music powerhouse and entrepreneur Akothee has once again sent a no-nonsense rant aimed at men sliding into her inbox asking for Christmas money.
In a heated post, the outspoken star made it clear that she is fed up with what she described as shameless begging disguised as festive greetings. According to Akothee, she has received over 20 messages from men asking her to “send me Christmas,” a trend she says is both annoying and unacceptable.
“If you want to ask me for money, go straight to the point. Stop hiding behind ‘send me Christmas,’” she wrote, questioning whether she had suddenly become a public holiday or a charity institution. Akothee went on to point out the irony, noting that even on her own birthday, she rarely receives gifts yet strangers feel entitled to her hard-earned money during the festive season.
The singer didn’t stop there. She questioned when men “turned into beggars” and warned that the habit seems endless. “After Christmas, what will you beg for? New Year? ‘Miya Happy New Year?’” she asked sarcastically.
Clearly at her limit, Akothee issued a strong warning going into 2026: any man who asks her for money will be exposed. She urged people to work hard instead of relying on handouts, bluntly stating, “Watu wafanye kazi alah!”
She also made it clear that she does not need festive greetings that come with expectations attached. “Don’t wish me Merry Christmas if it has to be taxed,” she said, emphasizing that her money is not up for grabs especially from people who later turn abusive when denied.
