The Rarieda Member of Parliament, Dr. Otiende Amollo has unveiled an 85 horsepower Misori Beach Patrol Boat which he said will help in rescue operations and boost security on Lake Victoria.

The boat, which was funded through the Rarieda Constituency Development Fund, was launched in the presence of Rarieda Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Njuguna, MCA Adiala, and officials from the Beach Management Units. This will cut down the response time during emergencies, enforce regulations on the lake, and offer safety to fishermen and lakeshore communities.

Speaking during the launch, Dr. Amollo said the initiative underscores the constituency’s commitment to the protection of livelihoods and lives that depend on the lake. According to the local leaders, the patrol boat shall play a critical role in search and rescue missions and in the control of insecurity at waters.

The residents welcomed the project, terming it a timely intervention that addresses the long-standing safety concerns on Lake Victoria while reinforcing collaboration between national government administrators, local leaders, and community institutions.
